Experience Open

    • Acting for BNP Paribas, ANZ Bank, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and the Development Bank of Japan in relation to the JOLCO financing of one (1) Boeing B777 aircraft to Air New Zealand.
    • Acting for operating lessors on over fifty aircraft operating leasing transactions with numerous airlines in Asia, Europe and North America.
    • Advising operating lessors and manufacturers on numerous repossessions and airline insolvency proceedings in jurisdictions including Australia (Ansett), Belgium (Sabena and Sobelair), France (Euralair/Air Horizons), Greece (Axon Airlines and Electra Airlines), Italy (Volare and Alitalia), Morocco (Mondair), Russia (KrasAir), Switzerland (Swiss), Thailand (Thai Jet) and UK (Silverjet (acting for the administrator)).
    • Advising DVB Group Merchant Bank (Asia) Ltd and China Development Bank, as co-lenders who financed the acquisition, in relation to a US$358.6 million sale and lease back transaction of a portfolio of maritime containers for China Shipping Container Lines and CDB Leasing.
    • Advising a syndicate of six Vietnamese banks, led by PetroVietnam Finance Corporation and Vietnam Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade, on the US$227m financing of an FPSO for the Chim Sao field in offshore Vietnam. The Borrower is a Singapore incorporated company and the majority of the project and finance documentation was governed by English law. The deal is particularly significant because it is the first US dollar facility provided by Vietnamese banks to an overseas company.
    • Acting as borrower’s counsel to Belwind N.V. on the arrangements for the €600m financing, construction and operation of the 165 MW first phase of the Bligh Bank offshore wind farm, comprising 55 3 MW wind turbine generators to be located 47km off the Belgian coast near Zee. This deal won a hat trick of awards: ‘Deal of the Year – Renewable’ from Infrastructure Journal; ‘Power Deal of the Year 2009’ from Project Finance International; and ‘European Offshore Wind Deal of the Year 2009’ from Project Finance Magazine. It was also the first offshore wind deal to close during the liquidity crisis.
