She specialises in transactions in the Energy & Infrastructure sector and her experience includes advising multilateral development banks, commercial banks and project developers on project finance, acquisition finance, syndicated lending and joint venture arrangements.

Experience Open

    Marianne’s experience includes advising:
    • Institutional investors on a £1.3bn investment-grade bond in relation to the acquisition by leading Danish pension funds PKA and PFA of a 50% stake in 659 MW Walney Extension offshore wind farm from Ørsted (formerly DONG Energy). The deal is valued at £2bn, of which £1.3bn is being funded through the issuance of the bond.
    • European renewables platform Vortex, which is managed by the private equity arm of EFG Hermes, on its acquisition of 365 MW UK solar PV portfolio with an enterprise value of c. £470m from TerraForm Power.  Comprising 24 operational assets, Vortex’s new acquisition represents one of the largest solar PV portfolios in the UK.
    • Royal Bank of Scotland on up to £36.5m in financing for the development of a 20.5 MW wind farm in Wandylaw, England.
    • Standard Chartered Bank on financing for the development of a 50.4 MW wind farm in Sipla, India.
    • Zorlu Enerji on financing from the International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank and other lenders in connection with the Zorlu Enerji wind project, Pakistan’s first privately owned and financed wind farm, in Jhimpir Sindh, Pakistan (Middle East Renewables Deal of the Year 2011, Project Finance Magazine).
    • International Power and Saudi Oger on the development of three third-party co-generation plants for Saudi Aramco at Uthmaniyah, Ju’aymah and Shedgum (the Tihama expansion projects).
    • Japan Bank for International Cooperation on financing for the Az-Zour North IWPP, a pioneering IWPP in Kuwait (Middle East Power Deal of the Year 2013, Project Finance International and Middle East PPP Deal of the Year 2013, Project Finance Magazine).
    • African Export-Import Bank on pre-export financing for oil exploration and production assets in Africa.
    • A European investment bank on finance contracts with various water industry participants in the United Kingdom.
    • An international syndicate on an aggregate of US$10.77bn loans for Glencore.
    • Société Générale and BNP Paribas on a reserve-based lending facility for Romanian gas assets for Amromco Energy.
    • Horizon Nuclear Power in relation to the development of up to 6,000 MW of nuclear new-build in the United Kingdom.
