Summary Open

Lucy originally joined Watson Farley & Williams in 1996 as a trainee. Since qualification in 1998, she has worked in the firm’s Singapore and London offices on a variety of ship finance, aviation and other asset and structured finance transactions. In 2005 she moved to Toulouse, France and continued to provide transaction support to the Greek, Singapore, Paris and London offices of the firm mainly in relation to complex ship finance and restructuring transactions.

Between 2009 and 2013 she worked as senior legal counsel for the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus in Toulouse, France supporting the sales, finance and asset management teams on all areas of the aircraft manufacturer’s business.

Lucy re-joined Watson Farley & Williams in 2013 to continue her work advising major international ship finance banks, other financial institutions, major international shipowners and operators on ship finance transactions and she has a broad range of experience working on complex financing structures, sale and charter backs, distressed debt transactions and debt restructurings generally.

She is also experienced in advising on the sale and purchase of new and used aircraft, operating leases, the structuring and documentation of pre-delivery payment finance in the context of new aircraft orders and post-delivery aircraft finance.

Experience Open

    • Acting for Natixis on the sale, financing and charter back of two Greek passenger ferries as part of a debt restructuring.
    • Advising a major French bank and lending syndicate in connection with the debt restructuring and insolvency issues relating to two loan facilities secured on the borrowing group’s Cyprus flagged fleet.
    • Representing a Singapore lending syndicate with the restructuring of its debt secured on two Hong Kong flagged vessels operated by an Indonesian charterer to include the sale of the Marshall Islands borrowing entity and the restructuring of the loan and charter documentation.
    • Assisting TUI Cruises GmbH on the construction and ECA financing of its new cruise ships on order with Meyer Werft, Finland.
    • Acting for a Dutch banking and lending syndicate in connection with a loan facility to a major tanker operator in order to assist in that borrower’s newbuilding financing program.
    • Assisting a joint venture in its acquisition of a distressed loan secured on four bulk carriers and advising on a security enforcement strategy post acquisition.
    • Assisting a major passenger cruise company in its ECA financing of two very large cruise vessels on order in Finland.
    • Acting for a major oil company in the financing of two jack-up rigs under construction in China.
