Katie is an Associate in the firm’s Asset Finance group.

She is based in Singapore and specialises in asset finance transactions with a particular focus on shipping. Katie joined the firm in 2011 as a Trainee Solicitor, working in the firm’s London, Piraeus and Singapore offices, before moving to the Singapore office on qualification in 2013. In 2016, Katie completed a five month secondment with the ship finance team in an international bank in Singapore.

Experience Open

    Katie’s relevant experience includes advising:
    • A syndicate of seven international banks in respect of a $575m revolving credit facility to a leading shipping company, which involved security being granted over multiple ships within the fleet that are registered and bareboat chartered out to a variety of shipping registries.
    • A syndicate of lenders on a $10m guarantee facility in respect of the issuance of two standby letters of credit and a $150m term loan facility to assist the borrower with purchasing a portfolio of marine containers from an administrator based in Germany, following the insolvency of the original owner of the containers.
    • A syndicate of international lenders in respect of the refinancing of seven Indian flagged offshore support vessels.
    • A syndicate of lenders on a loan facility to a Chinese leasing company to finance eight bitumen tankers which are on charter to a multinational trading company.
    • An international bank on a $350m unsecured corporate bridge loan facility to a global shipping company.
    • An international lender in respect of the refinancing of three South African flagged bunker tankers.
    • An international lender in connection with a refinancing of nine Singapore flagged container vessels.
    • An international lender in connection with a $28m post-delivery loan facility for the acquisition of two British flagged newbuild bulk carrier vessels.
    • A syndicate of lenders on a loan facility to the leasing arm of one of the largest state-owned commercial banks in China to finance five MR tankers which are on charter to a multinational trading company and two LR1 tankers which are on charter to a global tanker, gas and offshore company.
    • An international lender on four separate loan facilities to a leading Chinese steel company to finance the purchase of dry bulk carriers, two of which were supported by an insurance policy issued by a Korean ECA.
    • Acted for a syndicate of European banks in respect of the implementation of a vessel sales programme following various defaults under the facility.
