Jon is a Partner in the firm’s Energy & Infrastructure group in Singapore.

Jon trained and practised at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer before moving to Watson Farley & Williams in 2013. He specialises in contentious and non-contentious construction law. His experience includes advising utilities, financial institutions and energy companies on a range of construction, engineering and energy-related transactions and disputes.

Experience Open

    Jon’s experience includes advising:
    • Institutional investors on a £1.3bn investment-grade bond in relation to the acquisition by leading Danish pension funds PKA and PFA of a 50% stake in 659 MW Walney Extension offshore wind farm from Ørsted (formerly DONG Energy). The deal is valued at £2bn, of which £1.3bn is being funded through the issuance of the bond.
    • DONG Energy on the reorganisation of its Lincs offshore wind farm joint venture following the decision of partners Centrica and Siemens Project Ventures to sell their respective 50% and 25% stakes in the Lincs project. DONG retains its 25% stake in Lincs.
    • PKA, one of Denmark’s leading pension funds, on its acquisition of a 50% stake in the Teesside Renewable Energy Plant in the North East of England. The investment bank Macquarie Capital holds the remaining 50%, and the total investment in the plant is anticipated to be in the region of £900m.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners in relation to the financing of the Cape Wind Offshore Wind Farm, which will be the first offshore wind farm in the United States.
    • The joint venture between DONG Energy West of Duddon Sands (UK) Ltd and ScottishPower Renewables (WODS) Ltd regarding the construction of the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm, including advising on contractor, employer and insurance claims.
    • The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc on the financing of an onshore wind farm in the UK.
    • First Investments Fund Management in relation to the potential acquisition of an offshore wind farm in Europe.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on its acquisition of a 49% share in six onshore wind farms in the UK from Falck Renewables S.p.A.
    • KGAL Investment Management GmbH & Co. KG in connection with its acquisition of a solar farm in the UK from Belectric Solar Ltd.
    • ON Climate & Renewables GmbH in relation to the preparation of a suite of contracts for the construction, operation and maintenance of renewable power facilities across Europe.
    • Thanet Offshore Wind Ltd on a defective export cable at the Thanet Offshore Wind Farm.
    • A state-owned gas company in an ICC arbitration arising out of a project to install a subsea gas pipeline in Trinidad.
    • Brookfield Construction (UK) Ltd in relation to its dispute with Mott MacDonald Ltd regarding the design and construction of the new Wembley Stadium.
