Summary Open

Gary joined Watson Farley & Williams in 2008 and is head of the London Real Estate Group. He has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial real estate; including acquisitions, disposals, funding and development work often involving mixed-tenures, JV’s and landlord and tenant transactions. He specialises in leading on complex, often multi-jurisdictional projects. Gary also has significant experience in the renewable energy sector. His client base is varied; he often acts for domestic and overseas investors and entrepreneurs as well as major global corporations and funds.

Experience Open

    • Advising Frasers Hospitality UK Holdings Limited on the real estate aspects of the acquisition of Malmaison Hotel du Vin hotel group from private equity firm KSL Capital Partners LLC, for a consideration of £363.4 million.
    • Advising on the acquisition of a development site in central London for a mixed use development scheme for a value of circa £78 million.
    • Advising DONG Energy on the real estate aspects of the £644 million sale of a 25% stake in its London Array offshore wind project to La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
    • Advising a major pension fund on the speculative forward funding of four industrial units of over 205,000 sq ft in the North of England.
    • Acting for a large multinational company on all of its facilities and management work relating to its operations in England and Wales, including the purchase of their headquarters building and the sale of part of a factory site for redevelopment, together with the negotiation of a number of occupational tenancies.

  • Gary contributes to the UKTI Book Investors Guide to the UK and has published articles in the Estates Gazette. Gary has also spoken at various public seminars on real estate related matters.
