Catherine is an Associate in the firm’s Energy & Infrastructure group, based in London. She works on various aspects of energy projects, including advising clients on acquisitions, portfolio and non-collateralised financings, with a particular focus on renewable energy. Since joining Watson Farley & Williams in 2014 Catherine has worked in the firm’s London and Singapore offices.

Experience Open

    Catherine’s experience includes advising:
    • Canadian Solar on its sale of a 142 MW solar PV portfolio with an enterprise value of c. £191.2m to Greencoat Solar Assets II Ltd, a fund managed by Greencoat Capital.
    • Institutional investors on a £1.3bn investment-grade bond in relation to the acquisition by leading Danish pension funds PKA and PFA of a 50% stake in 659 MW Walney Extension offshore wind farm from Ørsted (formerly DONG Energy). The deal is valued at £2bn, of which £1.3bn is being funded through the issuance of the bond.
    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on construction aspects relating to its $61m mezzanine loan, through the fund Copenhagen Infrastructure II K/S, for the construction of the onshore wind farm Fluvanna I (155.4 MW) in Scurry County, Texas. Fluvanna I is owned and will be operated by Terna Energy S.A. The total investment in Fluvanna I will be $251m and the project is expected to be operational in 2017.
    • Nord/LB on the project financing for the Glenchamber onshore wind farm in Scotland. Project finance debt of £52m was provided by Nord/LB, in connection with the acquisition of the wind farm by UK based investor, Octopus Investments, from leading renewable energy developer RES.
    • The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc on various issues in relation to the financing of portfolios of solar farm projects in the UK with Lightsource as the developer.
    • The Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi-UFG and Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale in relation to £100m of construction financing for a 69 MW onshore wind farm developed by Invenergy LLC, located in Corriegarth, Invernesshire, Scotland.
    • DONG Energy A/S, the UK Green Investment Bank Plc and Marubeni Corporation on the divestment of transmission assets of the Westermost Rough offshore wind farm to Transmission Capital Partners, the consortium comprising International Public Partnerships Ltd, Amber Infrastructure and Transmission Investment, as part of the OFTO tender process run by Ofgem.
    • The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc on the provision of a non-recourse construction financing for a portfolio of 16 solar projects.
    • BayernLB on the financing of a portfolio of UK solar PV projects owned by Luxcara GmbH.
