He has a breadth of experience in planning law including advising on renewable energy projects, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments and highways matters. Alistair has also worked on contentious matters and negotiated numerous planning agreements. More recently, Alistair has expanded his practice into environmental and health and safety law.

Experience Open

    Alistair’s recent experience includes:
    • Advising a range of clients including developers, investors, lenders and operators undertaking due diligence for the sale, purchase and financing of renewable energy projects.
    • Providing strategic advice and support to an international manufacturing business on contentious and non-contentious planning matters ranging from disputes relating to highways, objections to a local plan and third party’s planning application, and transactional support relating to the client’s expansion plans.
    • Providing strategic advice to a pension fund client in relation to affordable housing and viability and negotiating the related Section 106 Agreement.
    • Advising a local authority on a potential disturbance claim in relation to land temporarily acquired pursuant to compulsory purchase powers under a Transport and Works Act Order.
    • Drafting detailed advice for an anaerobic digestion plant developer on the scope and application of Section 73 and 73A of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
    • Drafting, negotiating and settling planning agreements for a range of developer clients and local authorities including Section 106s, 106A deeds of variation and Section 38/278 highway agreements
    • Negotiating planning and environmental clauses and warranties in leases, conditional contracts and sale and purchase agreements.
    • Assisting a major cruise line company with the scoping and drafting of an environmental and social due diligence report relating to the financing for the construction of a man-made private destination island in the Caribbean.
