Elena Macchi, senior associate in Watson Farley & William’s (“WFW”) Milan office featured as a panellist in a recent discussion on the Italian renewable energy market for a webinar hosted by Inspiratia.
The main discussion points for the 2 December webinar included what the main trends and opportunities available are in Italy’s renewables sector, as well as what the main impacts of the new governmental decree (Decreto FER) for non-PV renewables will be on the greenfield wind market. Elena commented that “the Decreto FER … reduces future incentives for the renewables market, instead of cutting tariffs already in place.”
The panel also discussed how the new regulatory environment is affecting how renewable projects are being funded, what the main challenges for international investors are in the Italian renewables market, and how they can be overcome.
The discussion was moderated by Daniel Atzori, Head of Research at Inspiratia and other panellists included Riccardo Cirillo, Managing Partner at Platina Partners and Roberto Massarenti, Executive Director at Hideal Partners.
