Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is set to strengthen its highly regarded global aviation practice with the hire of aviation finance specialist Jonathan Mullender, who joins the firm’s Munich office as a Partner. He was previously Of Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright in the same city.

Qualified as both an English solicitor and German Rechtsanwalt, Jonathan has advised German arrangers, funds, airlines and banks on complex financing transactions, primarily in the aviation sector, for a decade and also has extensive expertise in domestic and cross-border tax and non-tax based leasing, and the sale and purchase of assets. He is a member of the British German Jurists’ Association.

Marcus Bechtel, WFW Germany Head, commented: “Jonathan is a talented and well-connected lawyer and his joining us represents a broadening of our highly regarded German finance offering in the aviation sector. He also greatly strengthens our English law practice in Germany, of key importance for the aviation industry in particular, as well as being a major addition to our Munich office”.

Global Transport Sector Head Rex Rosales added: “Growing our global aviation finance practice is one of our key strategic goals and Jonathan is a fantastic new addition to our team in Germany, a key hub for the industry. Following on from other recent hires in Dubai and Singapore, this further partner level hire demonstrates WFW’s commitment to providing full service expertise in our core industry sectors”.

Jonathan said: “WFW’s genuine commitment to, and expertise in, aviation within its broader focus on the transport sector, make the firm the ideal platform both for my clients and for the further development of my practice. I greatly look forward to working with my new colleagues in Germany and across the firm’s global network”.
