The capital markets have been a source of significant funding in many industries in the aftermath of the global credit crisis when traditional bank debt has become harder to come by due to the increased capital and liquidity burdens placed upon banks. While the shipping industry has followed suit, the products utilised thus far have generally been at the more traditional end of the scale, such as vanilla corporate bond or convertible bonds.
