Watson Farley & Williams Chairman and senior Maritime partner Frank Dunne moderated a panel discussion on the various financing options currently available to borrowers within the maritime sector, and those most likely sources of liquidity in the market going forward.
The panel discussion was part of Marine Money’s London Shipping Forum, held at The Dorchester in London. Entitled “The finance mosaic available to leading shipping companies”, the panel featured leading maritime finance industry figures Kathleen Haines, CFO and Treasurer of Heidmar Inc, Paulo Almeida, Portfolio Manager, Asset-Backed Investments at Tufton Oceanic, Tor Kidal, Senior Partner at Fearnley Project Finance, Knut Haaland, Head of High Yield Origination at DNB Markets, Euroseas Chairman and CEO Aristides Pittas and Managing Director of Shipping Finance Europe at DVB Bank, Michiel Steeman.
The panel discussed the availability and lack thereof of a wide range of finance options, from traditional lenders to the maritime industry to the US equity and debt markets and private equity. They debated the current availability of the various forms and finance, the outlook for each and variations in the accessibility to different forms of liquidity in different jurisdictions.
The event marked the seventh straight year Marine Money had hosted its London Shipping Forum.
