Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that it has advised Stadtwerke Stuttgart on the acquisition of a wind farm in Bad Hersfeld in Hesse in Germany, from ABO Wind. WFW advised Stadtwerke Stuttgart on both the legal and tax aspects of the transaction.

The ABO Wind-developed wind farm is currently under construction and will consist of six GE 2.5 – 120 wind energy converters with a total capacity of 15 MW. Following completion of the wind farm, Stadtwerke Stuttgart will be able to supply more than 15,000 households with sustainable energy. Stadtwerke Stuttgart has invested about €28 million in the wind farm.

This was the first transaction in which WFW has comprehensively advised Stadtwerke Stuttgart, a provider of ecologically generated energy and biogas in Baden-Wuerttemberg’s capital city of Stuttgart. Stadtwerke Stuttgart is actively investing in the local energy transition and is planning to invest €800 million into renewable energy projects by 2020.
