WFW advises KKB on the acquisition of a 9 MW onshore wind farm in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

11 April 2014

Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce it advised Swiss power plant operator KKB AG (“KKB”) on the acquisition of the “Selmsdorf III” wind farm from the project developer BayWa r.e..

The wind farm, developed and operated by BayWa r.e., is located in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, close to the Baltic Sea in North Germany. It is equipped with four Enercon wind turbines and has a total installed capacity of 9.2 MW.

WFW advised KKB on legal and tax matters relating to the due diligence, contract negotiations and purchase agreements. The acquisition was effected by the purchase of all shares in the wind farm’s operating company through a national affiliate founded by KKB.

KKB is an independent green power producer, focusing on the acquisition and operation of wind, solar and hydro power generation assets in Switzerland and selected countries of Europe.

WFW’s Hamburg-based team was led by partners Dr. Marcus Bechtel (Corporate) and Gerrit Bartsch (Tax). They were supported by partner Michael-Alexander Rojnic (Real Estate) and associates Carolin Woggon (Corporate) and Alexander Schroer (Real Estate).

Dr. Marcus Bechtel comments: „We are delighted to have advised KKB on the acquisition of their first German wind farm project. As a market leader in the renewables sector, WFW’s considerable experience allowed us to provide KKB with sound legal advice on the expansion of their portfolio of power generation assets.“
