1 October 2012

Watson, Farley & Williams (“WFW”), a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that it has advised KGAL GmbH & Co. KG („KGAL“) on the acquisition of a ground-mounted solar farm from Gehrlicher Solar AG. WFW advised on the relevant legal and tax aspects of this deal.

The solar farm, which is still under construction, is located on the former military airfield Rothenburg in Saxony. After the planned start of operation on 30 September 2012, the park will have a total module power output of 15.2 MWp. The solar farm is expected to produce around 15 million KWh of environmentally friendly electricity, which will cover the yearly power requirements of 4,280 three-person households. Compared with fossil based power generation, this means an annual saving of 13,500 tonnes of CO2.

WFW’s team was led by Munich-based corporate partner Dr. Dirk Janssen. He was supported by partner Tobias Ackert (Tax, Munich) as well as associates Dr. Ahmad Khonsari (Corporate, Hamburg), Daniel Marhewka (Corporate, Munich), Dr. Christine Bader (Public Law, Hamburg), JuDr. Zuzana Meinecke Fábry (Corporate, Munich), Simon Vogel (Corporate, Munich) and Martina Füchsl (Tax, Munich).
