WFW advises Cubico on second phase of UK renewables portfolio financing

30 June 2016

International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Cubico Sustainable Investments (“Cubico”), a renewable energy and water investment firm owned by Santander, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), on the second phase of its UK renewables portfolio financing provided by National Australia Bank (“NAB”), one of the four largest financial institutions in Australia.

A further seven projects (solar feed-in-tariff projects) have now been introduced to the portfolio, bringing the total portfolio capacity to over 120MW.

WFW advised on the accession of the new projects to the suite of existing finance documents, which had been structured to allow for such future accessions.

The WFW project team was led by Energy & Infrastructure partner, Daisy East, supported by associates Natalie Georgiou, Alexander Collis, James Quaile and trainee Andrea Bhamber.

Glasgow’s Burness Paull LLP advised on Scottish law in respect of one of the projects.

WFW lead partner, Daisy East, commented: “We are delighted to continue to advise Cubico as it expands its renewables portfolio. This demonstrates once again our unrivalled expertise on all aspects of renewable energy projects and portfolios”.
