Summary
Steven Burkill joined Watson, Farley &
Williams in 1998 and is head of the Bangkok Office and head of the Asia
dispute resolution team. He specialises in international litigation and,
in particular, London and Asia-based arbitrations involving oil and gas,
power and large-scale project disputes. He is also highly experienced
in shipping litigation involving charterparty, bill of lading, commodities
and ship sale and purchase disputes. He is cited in the Asia Legal
500 as a leading practitioner in dispute resolution work.
 
Recent Experience
- Steven was head of a 10 man team which
conducted 5 separate power boiler ICC arbitrations in S.E. Asia on behalf
of three Thai, one Indonesian and one Japanese company against major European
suppliers. He led a team in an international LCIA arbitration on
behalf of an Asia consortium in respect of a Korean supplied Central Processing
oil and gas platform, fabricated in Vietnam for offshore Malaysia. Steven
acted for the Beer Chang Group in advising them in respect of UNCITRAL
arbitration proceedings in Thailand and High Court Litigation in Denmark
and Singapore.
