Summary
Michael Vernell is a Partner and former Head
of the International Finance Group (1999-2008). Michael has worked in
International
Finance markets for over 25 years predominately in London but also in Tokyo,
New York and Oslo. His career includes 12 years working as an investment
banker. During his legal career he has specialised in shipping finance
and advises many of the major shipping banks.
 
Recent Experience
- Advising Nordea on the US$1.6bn financing
of the Euronav tanker fleet
- Advising ING on a US$300m bridge loan to
a Russian transportation group to finance the acquisition of port and other
land based assets in Russia
- Advising Bank of Scotland in relation to
the senior and junior debt financing of the sale and leaseback of the VLCC
"TI Guardian"
- Advising Citigroup in relation to 2 combined
export credit and commercial loan facilities to members of the Stena group
to finance the acquisition of drillships aggregating in excess of US$800m
- Advising a bidder for the provision of
LNG ships to service the Petronet II project in India
- Advising Fokus Bank ASA in relation to
a loan facility to Golar LNG to finance the acquisition of an LNG tanker
newbuilding
