Thomas Hollenhorst joined Watson, Farley & Williams in October 2005 to found the new Hamburg office. He is qualified as German lawyer and has over 8 years experience on a wide range of banking and finance matters, including structured and acquisition finance, asset and project finance (energy, shipping, real estate), workout and restructuring, and general banking matters including financial services and capital markets. Since working with Watson, Farley & Williams Thomas has become a specialist in renewable energy transactions within Germany and elsewhere in Europe and has particular experience in working for banks, developers and investors on large scale project and structured financings.

 
Recent Experience

  • Providing in-house advise to Deutsche Bank and Berenberg Bank on German finance and insolvency law (e.g. drafting and negotiating of several types of finance transactions, restructuring of a real estate portfolio, advising on a loan trade transaction) and on various general banking questions (e.g. stock market matters, German financial services rules and set-up of bank branches in the EU)
  • Advising one foreign and two German banks on various project and acquisition financings for German and European renewable energy transactions
  • Advising Plambeck Neue Energien AG on EUR 102 million bond financing for eight German wind farms (140 MW) to refinance the existing project finance debts
  • Advising Plambeck Neue Energien AG on the financing of a large portfolio sale to Babcock & Brown of 30 German wind farms (300 MW) to be constructed in 2006-2008
  • Advising Viridis Clean Energy Group on the acquisition and financing of two German wind farm portfolios
  • Advising BNP Paribas as lender counsel on a EUR 87 million portfolio financing of 6 German wind farms (98 MW) developed by Enertrag Structured Finance AG
