Summary
Philip joined Watson, Farley and Williams
in March 2007. Prior to joining the firm Philip gained considerable experience
in industry working for a variety of blue chip international oil &
gas operating companies, latterly in a General Counsel role, and was a
previously a Senior Corporate Associate in the Allen & Overy Energy
Group. Philip specialises in oil & gas commercial negotiations including
production sharing agreements and related joint venture arrangements, mergers
& acquisitions including private share/asset sales, large scale capital
projects work and private equity investments in both start up and established
companies. Philip has extensive experience in transactional, commercial
and project work in the upstream and midstream sectors in the Middle East,
Europe, North Africa, West Africa, South Africa and Latin America
Philip is a member of the Association of
International Petroleum Negotiators and is the current Chair of the UK
Energy Lawyers Group.
 
Recent Experience
- Advising a major Middle Eastern investor
on its US$600 million preferred bid for North Sea assets
- Advising a European investor on its US$200
million preferred bid for a Danish North Sea asset
- Advising promoters on private equity investments
from financial institutions and hedge funds in their companies, including
corporate structuring and control and transactional matters
- Advising Petro-Canada on its activities
in North Africa and the Middle East including its negotiations for a project
to develop 15 gas fields and the construction of two gas processing facilities
in Syria
- Advising Petro-Canada on the US$2bn acquisition
of Veba Oil & Gas’ international operated and non-operated business
having business operations in 12 countries
- Advising a major international company
in negotiations on a number of GTL and CTL projects
