Summary

Michael O’Donnell joined Watson, Farley & Williams in April 1988. He has worked in the International Finance Group in London since joining with one year (1993) in our Oslo office. He specialises in international financial work with a particular emphasis on shipping. His experience includes advising on ship financing and UK cross-border tax-based leasing transactions. Michael has advised financial institutions, ship owners and leasing companies.
 
Recent Experience

  • Acting for Nordea Bank Norge ASA on a US$1.6bn syndicated loan facility to Euronav to refinance various loan facilities and finance the purchase of various secondhand ships and newbuildings
  • Acting for Nordea Bank Finland Plc on a US$415m syndicated loan facility to Exmar to refinance various loan facilities and finance the purchase of various secondhand ships and newbuildings
  • Acting for HSH Nordbank AG on a US$500m syndicated senior revolving credit facility and US$60m syndicated junior revolving credit facility to Allocean to refinance certain loan facilities and to provide finance for acquisition of additional ships
  • Acting for various financial institutions on loan facilities to Bocimar International, including acting for each of Nordea Bank Norge ASA, Nordea Bank Finland Plc, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Schiffsbank, ING and Danske Bank A/S to finance various ship purchases
  • Acting for Calyon on several syndicated shipping loan facilities to various ship owners, including De Poli, Eastwind Maritime, Euroceanic CTGM, Saga, Novoship,  Zachello, d'Amico, Navalmar, Geogas and FR8
  • Acting for ABC International Bank on a US$50 million syndicated loan facility for Pacific Star which included an Islamic bond issue
  • Acting for Ceres Hellenic in relation to a US$31.4 million loan facility made available by ABN Amro and advising as to the shipbuilding contracts and various options agreed by Ceres Hellenic and BG
  • Acting for Evergreen Marine Corporation on several UK tax-based leasing transactions and on related loan facilities, including a number of head and sub-lease structures (includes leases with Alliance & Leicester, Lloyds, Barclays, HSBC and ING)
