Summary
Mark Lawson joined Watson, Farley & Williams
in 1989 and became a partner in 1991. He currently advises mainly on the
financing and contracts for renewables, shipping and offshore assets and
projects in the UK and elsewhere.
 
Recent Experience
- Advising Seaspan Corporation on a $400
million UK tax lease financing for five newbuilding container ships
- Advsing a corporate client on the terms
of a total return swap (incorporating a revolving credit facility) entered
into with a major financial institution involving the shares of a company
listed on the Paris Stock Exchange
- Advising a Belgian group on a €43 million
UK tax lease financing and contracts for up to six dredging and heavy-lift
vessels.
- Advising Dexia as MLA on the €131 million
term and subordinated secured credit and hedging facilities for the Thornton
Bank, Belgian offshore wind farm
- Advising a Japanese group on the restructuring
of UK tax leases for its LNG carriers
- Advising two lessees on the restructuring
and termination of three UK tax leases
- Advising the Bluewater Group on its US$850m
secured refinancing of its floating production fleet, and prior restructuring
and termination of four tax leases
- Advising Falck Renewables Limited on its
senior and mezzanine project financing of the Cefn Croes, Boyndie, Earlsburn,
Millennium, Kilbraur and Ben Aketil wind farms in Wales and Scotland
- Advising the Fred.Olsen Group on their
project debt and lease financing of the Rothes and Paul's Hill wind farms
in Scotland
- Advising the Trinergy Group on their senior
and junior project and lease financing of wind farms in Italy

Mark has prepared and presented lectures to
clients, practitioners and students on various topics, including general
contract law, renewables financing, ship finance law and practice, related
insurance matters and international marine pollution liability. He is currently
a partner with responsibility for know-how and precedent development for
the firm's finance practice.
