Summary
Maren Brandes joined Watson, Farley &
Williams in October 2005 as a partner and mainly advises in the field of
ship finance. She is qualified as a German lawyer and has since 1998 been
advising in all matters related to ship finance and shipping. These include
loan agreements, shipbuilding contracts, charter parties as well as shipping
and commercial dispute resolution. Maren has advised major banks, shipyards,
marine insurance companies, ship owners, cruise operators and trading houses
in Germany and Europe.
 
Recent Experience
- Advising German and English lenders in
numerous new-building and second-hand tonnage financings
- Advising various tour operators in respect
of the acquisition, financing, registration and operation of cruise
vessels
- Advising several shipyards and owners on
shipbuilding contracts, including for passenger vessels
- Conducting litigation and arbitration on
behalf of ship owners, charterers, trading houses, marine insurers and
shipyards
