Summary Maren Brandes joined Watson, Farley &
Williams in October 2005 as a partner and is heading the shipping finance
group in the Hamburg office. She is qualified as a German lawyer and has
since 1998 been advising in all matters related to ship finance and shipping.
Maren Brandes mainly assists German and international banks with the financing
of newbuildings and second hand tonnage. Other experience includes shipyard
related matters, marine insurance, sale and purchase, cruise and dispute
resolution.

- Advising German and international lenders
in numerous new-building and second-hand tonnage financings
- Advising Deutsche Bank AG (Deutsche Shipping,
Hamburg) and KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH with respect to a EUR 180m short term credit
for Wadan Yards covered by "KfW Sonderprogramm 2009"
- Advising Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale,
KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH and WestLB AG with respect to a state-guaranteed EUR
270m guarantee facility for Volkswerft Stralsund GmbH
- Advising a syndicate of German and international
banks in respect of a KEIC-covered USD 660m facility for German owners
- Advising a syndicate of German and European
banks in respect of a KEIC-covered USD 240m facility for European owners
- Advising English lenders in respect of
the financing of a series of small tankers for German interests
- Advising a syndicate of English and international
lenders with respect to a Hermes covered CIRR-financing of a cruise
vessel
- Advising a syndicate of German banks with
respect to the financing of two ferry conversions
- Advising several shipyards and owners on
shipbuilding contracts
