Summary

George Paleokrassas joined Watson, Farley & Williams as a trainee in September 1992, qualified into the International Finance Group in September 1994 and became a partner in 2003. George deals with a broad range of ship finance work acting for major ship lenders in the structuring and restructuring of loan transactions as well as for owners and operators in commercial shipping matters (including the drafting and negotiation of shipbuilding contracts, charterparties, joint ventures and ship sale and purchase documentation) and in other general corporate matters.  He has also been involved recently in the financing of a number of LNG newbuildings.
 
Recent Experience

  • Advised the co-arrangers in connection with a $250 million revolving credit facility to Tsakos Energy Navigation Limited
  • Advised Fortis Bank and K-Exim in connection with a US$180 million joint financing of four Suezmax tanker newbuildings ordered by TEN at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd
  • Advised a number of international lenders involved in three facilities totalling $374 million which are to be used in financing three 150,000 cubic metres membrane-type liquefied natural gas carriers ordered by the Dynagas group
  • Advised a syndicate of international banks over a period of 2 years in connection with the global restructuring of loan facilities totalling €310m made available to ANEK, one of the major Greek ferry companies. This deal was nominated as one of the Shipping Finance Deals of the Year by Legal Business Awards in 2004
  • Advised a syndicate of international banks in connection with the restructuring of certain medium-term credit facilities totalling €125m made available to Minoan Lines, one of the major Greek ferry companies
  • Acted on the acquisition by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines of Celebrity Cruises. Watson, Farley & Williams won Shipping Team of the Year by Legal Business Awards in 1997 for our work on this transaction
  • Advised The Royal Bank of Scotland plc in connection with a US$228 million facility to be used in financing three very large gas carriers under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd
